Chintu Ka Birthday

An Indian family is stuck in Baghdad during the invasion of Iraq. They have no papers and they are looking for a way home. The youngest of them, Chintu, is turning six, and the family tries to give him a birthday while the war goes on outside. Their Iraqi landlord's household helps where it can. Written and directed together by the brothers Satyanshu and Devanshu Singh, the film stays almost entirely inside one apartment: it never shows the war, only its sound and the strangers who come through the door. Vinay Pathak and Tillotama Shome play the parents. Small in scale and careful not to trade on sentiment.
