In the criminal underside of Kochi, lives that seem to have nothing to do with each other cross: Jyothilal, an enforcer for the land mafia, pursues an actress; a labourer who came from Tamil Nadu struggles with his marriage; a widow tries to settle a score. The film ties these strands together through coincidence and builds a many-armed view of the city from inside different classes. Lijo Jose Pellissery does it in what is called hyperlink narration, a shape rarely tried in Malayalam cinema, and the film flopped when it came out. Given the standing the director later acquired, it is talked about far more now. What it is really about is the invisibility of the migrant workers who come to the city for work. Prithviraj and Indrajith Sukumaran take the leads.
