City of My Dreams

Henning comes to Stockholm at the end of the nineteenth century. He has come to the city looking for work. He meets other young people like himself. The city treats them harshly. Work is not easy to find. What work there is has no security. Housing is a separate problem. The young people try to stay on their feet. The solidarity between them keeps them going. All of them dream of a better life. The film shows that dream on realistic ground. Everyday detail comes forward. The account spreads across a long stretch of time. The city stands like a second character in the story. Eddie Axberg and Britt-Louise Tillbom appear in the one hundred sixty eight minute film, a Swedish production Ingvar Skogsberg finished in 1976.
