What Clubbed Is About
Coventry, 1984. Danny works in a factory and, after being beaten and humiliated in front of his own children, decides to become someone else and joins a crew of nightclub doormen. As his body hardens his confidence comes back, but the world he has stepped into pulls him towards drugs and the scores being settled underneath it. The screenplay was written by Geoff Thompson, who worked as a doorman himself for years, adapting his own autobiographical book Watch My Back. The violence is shown plainly and without decoration.
