What Cold Days Is About
The account runs through four men. All four are waiting for trial. The charge concerns what happened at Novi Sad in 1942. Several thousand Jewish and Serbian people were killed there. The men were on duty in those days. Now they are asked to answer for it. Each of them denies responsibility. They all say the same thing. They were only following orders. The film shows those days as the men themselves tell them. Hungary’s part in the war went unspoken for a long time. The film was held to matter because it opened the subject, and it counts among the most important Hungarian films of the sixties. Zoltán Latinovits and Iván Darvas appear in the ninety six minute film, a Hungarian production András Kovács finished in 1966.
