What Colt 38 Special Squad Is About
Turin is in the grip of a crime boss known as the Marseillais, and plenty of policemen have reason to want him dead, none more than Inspector Vanni, whose wife he killed. With every other route exhausted, Vanni puts together a hand picked squad on motorcycles carrying Colt .38s, and the work starts happening at the edge of the law. When the Marseillais begins a bombing campaign meant to extort a large ransom from the city, Vanni is racing both for his revenge and against the clock. Massimo Dallamano's 1976 film belongs to the poliziottesco wave and puts that wave's most contested question directly on screen: how far may the police depart from the law?
