What Corbo Is About

Montreal, the spring of 1966. Jean Corbo is sixteen, his mother is from Quebec and his father is Italian, and the boy finds himself between the two. After becoming friends with two young far left activists he joins the Front de Liberation du Quebec, a radical group working underground. Jean was a real person; in July of that same year he died when a bomb he had placed in the yard of a factory in Montreal went off in his hands. The film draws him as neither a hero nor a monster; it is about how a young man could be carried to such a place. Anthony Therrien plays the lead in Mathieu Denis’s hundred and nineteen minute Canadian film, completed in 2015.
