Courage

Greg Zglinski's film begins on a train. A few thugs are harassing a young woman; Jerzy steps in, while his older brother Alfred freezes and watches helplessly as his brother is thrown from the moving train. The film is about everything after that moment: what the man who did not intervene will do with his family, with the witnesses, with himself. It declares nobody a hero, but it does not accept fear as an excuse either, and who anyone actually is only emerges after an event like this. The screenplay was developed from a story by Cezary Harasimowicz. Robert Więckiewicz plays Alfred and took a special jury prize in Warsaw, with several more awards at Gdynia.
