What Crashout Is About
Van Duff engineers a large scale prison break, and only six men are left out of the crowd that got over the wall. They hide first in an abandoned mine working near the prison, then set out on a long road, on foot and by car, train and truck, to reach the bank money Duff has buried. Along the way they touch the lives of ordinary people, and each of them walks separately toward his own ending. Lewis R. Foster’s noir turns an escape story into a moral test. William Bendix, Arthur Kennedy and Luther Adler head the cast.
