Crocodile Tears

Tumpal Tampubolon's 2026 Indonesian film follows a mother and son living on a crocodile farm. The place is isolated and the son has barely seen the outside world. When he meets a girl, the mother's control begins to crack. The film builds this as a thriller; the narrative shows a relationship that confuses possession with love and does not force the crocodiles too hard as metaphor. Marissa Anita plays the mother. The images are in wetland and low light. The violence is abrupt. Who it's for: those who like Southeast Asian thrillers and psychological drama. Who it's not for: viewers for whom scenes involving animals and a suffocating family bond would be difficult.
