Cruising Bar

On a Saturday evening in Montreal, four men are getting ready for the same thing: a round of the bars in search of women. One stands in front of the mirror for hours, one runs to the gym, one buys new clothes. All four think themselves irresistible. As the evening goes on, all four of their plans collapse separately. Michel Côté plays all four parts in Robert Ménard's Quebec comedy. The joke is not on the women but on the men: the film shows the roles they have cast themselves in, the lines they use, and how helpless they actually are. It did big business in Quebec and a sequel was made years later. The tone is broad and the types are deliberately cartoons.
