Curveball

Arndt Wolf, a German bio weapons expert, searched Iraq for weapons of mass destruction with a United Nations mission and found nothing. Even so he cannot let go of the idea that Saddam Hussein is hiding something. Nobody around him is interested in the subject any more. Everything changes when an Iraqi asylum seeker says he worked on making chemical weapons. German intelligence calls Wolf in to judge whether what the informant says holds up. The code name given to the informant is Curveball, and the film takes its title from it. The German subtitle says that truth is something made, and the account is built on that idea. How a piece of information gets shaped to fit a wanted conclusion stands at the centre. Sebastian Blomberg and Dar Salim appear in Johannes Naber’s hundred and eight minute German film, completed in 2021.
