Dark Blue Girl

Luca is a strong willed seven year old. Her parents, who have been apart for two years, take her along on a trip to clear out and sell their holiday house on a quiet island in the Aegean. On the island the closeness between the two of them comes back to life. That upsets the balance of the family and Luca suddenly stops being the centre of attention. The child will not accept it and begins to play her parents off against each other. The film shows her not as a charming figure but as someone who knows what she wants. The closed space of the island locks the three of them in one place and the tension grows from there. Helena Zengel takes the lead in Mascha Schilinski’s hundred and three minute film, a joint German and Greek production, completed in 2017.
