Days and Hours

Fuke goes to his uncle Idriz and aunt Sabira to fix a broken boiler. Once in the house he sees there is a good deal else that needs repairing. Idriz and Sabira lost their only son in the Balkan war; seven years have passed and neither of them can accept it. When Fuke’s car will not start he has to stay the night. In the house and the neighbourhood he runs into old friends and neighbours. The film tells grief not through big scenes but through tea, food and talk. How the unspoken thing sits inside a house is at the centre of the story. The ninety three minutes are compressed into a single day and night. Senad Bašić and Mustafa Nadarević appear in Pjer Žalica’s Bosnian film, completed in 2004.
