Dear Ruth

Lieutenant William Seacroft comes home on leave from the front. He had been serving in Italy. He arrives in New York at the Wilkins house. His purpose is to see the girl he has been writing to. The letters appear to be signed by Ruth. But Ruth did not write them. Her younger sister Miriam did. The girl wanted to keep up the soldiers’ morale. She used her sister’s name. Ruth knew nothing about it. On top of that she has just become engaged. Her fiance is a colleague from work. Ruth agrees to see Bill all the same. She tells him she wrote the letters. As the misunderstanding grows things tangle. Joan Caulfield and William Holden appear in the ninety five minute film, an American production William D. Russell finished in 1947.
