Alberto Vazquez's 2025 Spanish animation follows an unemployed middle-aged mouse. Arnold tells his wife he suspects his entire world is nothing but a set; when his friend dies under suspicious circumstances he traces it to a large corporation. The film uses animal characters not as an instrument of children's animation but for the opposite. The visual language is cute while the content is existential and at times directly frightening; that contrast is Vazquez's known method. It expands the director's short film of the same name to feature length. The drawing style is handmade and the palette deliberately airless; the narrative joins the idea that reality is fake to a mystery plot. Who it's for: those who like animation for adults and dark humour. Who it's not for: young viewers; the film contains violence, sexuality and despair, and despite its appearance is not a family film.
