Dirt! The Movie

The documentary takes up soil. It says the human relation to soil used to be something else. Soil gave food, shelter and fuel. Medicine, ceramics and colour came out of it too. The film says that bond was understood for ten thousand years. People looked after the soil that looked after them. Then the bond was broken. According to the film soil is now counted as dirt. What that view led to is described as well. The skin of the earth is turning unliveable. Even so the documentary argues there is a way out. It points to a change in environmental thinking and to workable solutions. Jamie Lee Curtis, Wangari Maathai and Vandana Shiva appear in the eighty six minute film. Bill Benenson, Eleonore Dailly and Gene Rosow made the American documentary of 2009.
