What Blood Money Is About
Hacer has migrated from a village to Istanbul and is on her own with two children. She takes a job in a factory. She marries Hasan, who works in the same factory. Hacer sees the working conditions there and moves closer to the union; Hasan is afraid of losing his job and wants to stay clear of it. The split between them begins here. This is the last film in Lütfi Akad's migration trilogy, coming after Gelin and Düğün. The first two were about families arriving from the village trying to hold on in the city through trade; Diyet looks at the factory and at how class consciousness forms. Akad wrote the screenplay, taking his starting point from Ömer Seyfettin's story of the same name. Hülya Koçyiğit plays Hacer and Hakan Balamir plays Hasan.
