My Prostitute Love

Halil keeps a greengrocer's shop in Beyoğlu. He opens in the morning, closes at night, goes home; that is the whole of his life. One night his friends drag him to a nightclub, where he sees Sabiha, and the two of them fall for each other. Halil starts neglecting the shop and spending his nights there. Sabiha takes him into her home despite her friend Müjgan's warnings. But there is something Sabiha does not know: Halil has a wife and children. Lütfi Ö. Akad directs, with Türkân Şoray as Sabiha and İzzet Günay as Halil. It is among the most remembered love stories in Turkish cinema. What it is about is not that a love is impossible but that two people are made to go back to their own lives.
