What Dogfight Is About
November 1963, San Francisco. Four young Marines about to ship out to Vietnam invent a game for their last night: each brings a date, and whoever brings the ugliest one takes the money. They call it a dogfight. Eddie invites Rose, who works in her mother's café and plays guitar. The film really begins when Rose finds out what the evening is, and Eddie has one night to make it right. Savoca does not excuse the game or flatten Eddie.
