What Dream Factory Is About
1961, at the great film studio just outside East Berlin. Emil comes back from military service, finds no work, starts as an extra on set and meets Milou, a French dancer. On the day they were to meet, the wall goes up and she is in the West while he is in the East. The only way to bring her back turns out to be arranging a film shoot, so he sets about mounting a production that does not exist. Martin Schreier's film is both a love story and a letter to the Babelsberg studios. Playing the hardest moment in the country's history as romantic comedy sometimes runs light.
