What Drifters Is About

Those who know Hong Yunsheng count him a failure; they call him Little Brother. Years ago he went to the United States as a stowaway. There he washed dishes in the restaurant of a family from Fujian. After two years he was deported and returned to China. He had a son in America, and the child’s mother is the restaurant owner’s daughter. Since coming back he cannot hold on to any work, and a rift has opened between him and his older brother. The brother runs a small street restaurant with his wife; the two of them have no children. Little Brother leans on a woman he has just met, Wu Ruifang, who performs with a touring opera troupe. Wang Xiaoshuai directed the hundred and twenty minute Chinese film of 2003.
