In Love We Trust

A couple divorced years ago. They have a daughter between them. The girl falls ill with blood cancer. The doctors point to one way out. The one way they are shown to save the child is another sibling. That is, the two of them would have to have another child. But something stands in the way. Both of them have married again. Their new partners are part of the matter too. The decision touches four people at once. Nobody can easily say yes or no. The account is built on that decision. The film proceeds with a quiet tension. Liu Weiwei and Cheng Taishen take the leads, with Zhang Jiayi and Yu Nan also in the cast, in Wang Xiaoshuai’s Chinese film of 2008.
