Eagles Fly Early

The film is set in a Bosnian village. There is a group of children in the village. The children often run away from school. What they are running from is their teacher. The teacher’s nickname is Pepper. The name comes from his red nose. One day the children set up a gang of their own. They call it a brigand division. But they are caught before long. Then the year 1941 arrives. The war reaches as far as the village. And so the game turns into the real thing. The division the children set up now looks like a partisan unit. The film runs comedy alongside the war. Pavle Jovanović and Pavle Polaček take the leads, with Ljupče Popović and Mirko Nanović also in the cast, in Soja Jovanović’s Yugoslav film of 1966.
