What Eden Is About
Gregor is the chef of a well known restaurant. He is very good in the kitchen and lives on his own. Eden waits tables at the same place. She is married to Xaver and she loves her marriage. All the same she feels neglected. Their daughter Leonie is five and has Down syndrome. Gregor makes a cake for the girl’s birthday with chocolate of his own making. Once Eden tastes it she cannot forget it. She starts going to his kitchen to try other dishes. Something grows between them, but nothing physical. Eden is livelier and happier in this period. Her marriage benefits from it too. Xaver, for his part, gives way to jealousy. He damages Gregor’s wine cellar. His anger does not stop there and the end is heavy. Charlotte Roche and Josef Ostendorf appear in the ninety eight minute film, a Swiss and German production Michael Hofmann finished in 2006.
