Edgeplay: A Film About The Runaways

The Runaways were a rock band formed in the seventies. All of their members were teenage girls. Lita Ford and Joan Jett were among them. Neither of them was known at the time. The documentary tells of the band’s rise and its break up. The film was made by the band’s former bass player. Victory Tischler-Blue played in the group for a period. She speaks with the former members one by one. What they say shows what went on behind the scenes. The girls were subjected to verbal and psychological abuse. They were young and the weight of the work was heavy. Kim Fowley, the band’s first manager, speaks as well. Joan Jett would not take part in the film. She did not allow her music to be used either. Cherie Currie and Lita Ford speak in the hundred and ten minute documentary. It is an American production Victory Tischler-Blue finished in 2004.
