What Euthanizer Is About
Veijo is a mechanic in a Finnish forest village whose side job is putting down sick and old pets brought to him by their owners. He gets on badly with people and well with animals. When he does not kill a dog he was supposed to kill and the owner finds out, things come apart; a racist group and a steadily growing score are waiting for him. The only innocent party in the whole business is the dog. Teemu Nikki's film premiered at Toronto in 2017, was Finland's Oscar submission, and won best screenplay at the Jussi awards. It keeps black comedy and hard violence in the same shot, and it is not an easy watch.
