Evening Performance

Lola Herrera is performing in a play. The play is by Miguel Delibes. It is called Cinco horas con Mario. Every night Herrera plays the same woman. In time the part sticks to her. Her own life and the character’s life run together. The film is built on that. A dressing room is set up. Four cameras are placed behind mirrored glass. Ten microphones are spread around the room. Two people are inside. One is Lola Herrera. The other is Daniel Dicenta, her former husband. They talk after years apart. The conversation has no script. They open up the life they had together from beginning to end. Natalia Dicenta also appears in the ninety minute film, a Spanish production Josefina Molina finished in 1981.
