Everyday Rebellion

The documentary is about forms of resistance that refuse violence and about the creative ways of civil disobedience. Femen, Occupy Wall Street, the Indignados movement in Spain and the Arab and Iranian uprisings are among the places the film looks. Activists from different countries describe their own methods: humour, spectacle, silence and ways of gathering a crowd. Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno are among those who turn humour into a means of action. Srdja Popovic and Inna Shevchenko are among those speaking as well. The account tries less to compare these movements than to look for a shared language of method. The film stands openly with the activists and does not hide it. The work did not stay a film alone; a project running over the internet was built alongside it. The hundred and eighteen minute documentary by Arash T. Riahi and Arman T. Riahi, a joint production of Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Greece, was completed in 2013.
