What Eye in the Sky Is About

A Hong Kong police surveillance unit follows its targets through the street without ever being noticed. The experienced man who runs it is training a new recruit, teaching her from the first day how to disappear into a crowd. At the same time the unit is watching the man they believe planned a recent jewellery robbery. He knows perfectly well he is being watched, and works accordingly. It was Yau Nai-hoi's first film as director; he had spent years writing for Johnnie To before making his own. There is almost no action in it, and the tension is built entirely out of looking and following.
