A family's pilgrimage is badly planned from the start. Nobody can talk to anybody, everyone has a private agenda, and travelling together means being crammed together more than being together. When the eldest, the grandfather, goes missing partway along, the trip finds its actual purpose. Directed by Nithish Sahadev, this Malayalam film places its comedy inside the conflicts. The arguments are funny and the reasons behind them are not: unreciprocated expectations, old injuries, the weight of the unsaid. The film does not resolve these. It makes them visible. Basil Joseph leads, with Manju Pillai as the mother. The road-movie structure makes it easy to bring each family member forward in turn. Who it's for: Viewers who like Malayalam family comedy, road movies, and drama that gets on without grand statements. Who it's not for: The emotional close leans on familiar shapes and some supporting characters stay thin. The pacing is scattered if you want a tightly built comedy.
