Sekhar Kammula's 2017 Telugu film is about a relationship between two people from different worlds. Varun is studying medicine in America and comes to a village in Telangana for his brother's wedding, where he meets Bhanumathi. Bhanu looks after her father and the fields, says what she thinks and has never considered leaving. The attraction is strong, but she will not give up her village and he will not change his plan to build a life in America. The film builds its conflict not on ill will but on each of them being attached to their own life. The Telangana dialect and the detail of rural life were the most admired things about it. Sai Pallavi became widely known through this film. It is long and slow. Who it's for: viewers who like Telugu romantic drama and rural stories. Who it's not for: anyone expecting a quick story; the film builds the relationship slowly.
