What Fighting with My Family Is About
Stephen Merchant wrote and directed this, working from Max Fisher’s 2012 documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family. The invented part is not small. Hutch Morgan, the coach played by Vince Vaughn, is fictional. The film starts Paige straight in NXT, when she wrestled first in Florida Championship Wrestling; her NXT title reign goes unmentioned, and an earlier WWE tryout she failed is absent. Dwayne Johnson meeting the family backstage in England is invention too; he first saw them in the 2012 documentary. The tryout plays at the O2 Arena in London; America here means the training camp. The in ring material was shot on 20 February 2017 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, right after a WWE Raw broadcast. Tessa Blanchard performed Florence Pugh’s wrestling stunts, and the real Zak appears in a small part. The production cost 11 million dollars, and MGM bought world rights in Berlin in February 2017 for 17.5 million, above the budget and before shooting began; the box office closed at 41.5 million. A stage musical was announced in April 2026. A good fit if you want a sports film that stands with the one left behind, not only the one picked. Not for anyone who wants Paige’s real path in order; the film skips both the order and a title reign.
