What Final Victory Is About
A gangster going to prison leaves his shy and hopeless brother Hung with two jobs: to look after his wife and to look after his mistress. Neither woman knows about the other, and while Hung runs between them he loses hold of his own life entirely. That is where the comedy comes from, but the film is also looking at men who hand women on like property. The screenplay of Patrick Tam’s ninety three minute Hong Kong film was written by Wong Kar-wai, a year before he made his own first film. Eric Tsang takes the lead, and the director Tsui Hark appears as an actor. It was completed in 1987.
