Hock, a grocery boy who worships Bruce Lee, is taken with dancing when a disco film is screened in place of his favourite kung fu picture. Pairing up with his friend Mei, he signs up for dance lessons to prepare for a contest, meaning to earn a little money and buy a new motorcycle. The film begins with dancing not as a passion but as the means to something else, and watches that change over time. The account keeps its comic tone and does not diminish its hero by mocking his clumsiness. Expectations inside the family and the shortage of money stand throughout in the background. Adrian Pang plays the lead in Glen Goei’s ninety five minute film, completed in 1998.
