Forever Young, Forever Free

Jannie is orphaned as a small boy. His parents die in an accident in the mountains of Lesotho. The child is placed at a mission station. There he meets Tsepo. Tsepo is a boy from the nearby village. The two become friends over a sweet passed through a window. From that day they are never apart. Years pass and their games grow bigger. One day one of those games ends badly. Jannie is seriously hurt. He has to be taken to America for treatment. Tsepo holds himself responsible. He sets off to New York to find his friend. The film was made in a country where racial separation was law. Getting it shown was not easy either. Norman Knox and Muntu Ndebele appear in the eighty five minute film, a South African production Ashley Lazarus finished in 1975.
