What Frozen Stiff Is About
In Belgrade the affairs of a drug dealer named Limeni fall apart. At the same time two men, Lemi and Kiza, are trying to take their dead grandfather home for burial. When their car breaks down they have to get the body onto a train. The two stories cross and everyone spends the night moving around the city after one another. Milorad Milinković works in the familiar register of Serbian black comedy: fast dialogue, situations pushed to absurdity, and death treated as an everyday obstacle. The narrative builds a chain around the corpse and gets further out of control at every step. Nikola Đuričko and Srđan Todorović are in the cast. The film reached a wide audience in Serbia in the early 2000s. Who it's for: Viewers who like Balkan black comedy, multi-strand structures, and crime humour. Who it's not for: The humour is crude and the pace is scattered. Local references are also largely lost in subtitles.
