What Fury of the Demon Is About
The film is built as a documentary chasing a lost short said to turn those who watch it violent: every time it was shown a fight broke out in the hall, the copies disappeared, and even who made it stayed unclear. Film historians, directors and journalists come before the camera to talk about this film and the era of Georges Méliès. But there is no such film: both the short and the director it is attributed to are inventions, and the production is a mockumentary from beginning to end. Alexandre Aja and Christophe Gans speak in Fabien Delage’s sixty minute French film; it was completed in 2016.
