Gentleman

Mohana Krishna Indraganti's 2016 Telugu film opens with two women meeting on a flight. Talking about their boyfriends, they realise the man each describes is exactly the same; back home the situation grows more tangled. The plot rests on identity split in two. Whether the man is really two different people or one person with two lives is revealed late, and the tension comes from there. Nani plays both roles and keeps the two characters distinguishable. Nivetha Thomas and Surbhi play opposite him. The narrative delivers several explanations at once in the final section and does not fully answer the mystery it built. Who it's for: those who like Telugu mystery thrillers. Who it's not for: viewers expecting tight logic; the film leaves several gaps in its resolution.
