What Gently Was Anastasia Passing Is About
The film is set in the year 1944. The place is a border town on the Danube. The town is under German occupation. There are plenty who collaborate with it. Some of the young men in the town join the partisans. Those young men kill a Serbian. They throw the body into the middle of the village. Then they lay down a ban. Nobody is to bury the body. Anastasia refuses to obey that order. Her decision sets her against everyone. The account is built on that refusal.
