The documentary takes up text based adventure games, also known as interactive fiction. The player sees no pictures on the screen; they read what is written and type commands. The film looks for the roots of the form in caving and in the spread of home computers. From there it comes forward to the independent makers of today. Jason Scott made around eighty interviews for it, with designers, programmers and players. The interviews were recorded between 2006 and 2008. Among the extra material there is a separate documentary about Infocom. Scott, who works on the history of computing, completed the seventy eight minute film in 2010.
