Get on the Bus

Get on the Bus, a 2.4 million dollar production, was entirely financed by fifteen Black male investors, including Danny Glover, Wesley Snipes, and Will Smith, each putting in roughly 100,000 to 200,000 dollars. Spike Lee had stipulated he would only make the film if it was financed entirely by Black American capital. The film was shot on an extremely fast schedule to meet the first anniversary of the real 1995 Million Man March, and the investment was repaid to investors just before release. Who it's for: anyone curious about fifteen fictional characters joining a real historical march, in a film financed entirely by Black investors. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a drama backed by major studio financing.
