Getting LOST

Taylor Morden's 2024 documentary looks at the television series Lost twenty years on. There are interviews with cast, writers and producers, but the film's real interest is the audience that still follows it. The documentary covers how the show was watched more than how it was made. The theories built on forums between episodes, the meet-ups and the habit of watching together are presented as an example of how television changed alongside the internet. The controversy over the finale is also taken up, and the producers discuss it without going on the defensive. The narrative is chronological and formally plain, alternating interview and archive. Who it's for: those who watched the series and are curious about television culture. Who it's not for: viewers who do not know the show; the documentary does not explain the plot and discusses outcomes directly.
