What Stans Is About
Stans, directed by Steven Leckart, is a documentary Eminem himself produced, exploring the world of the rapper's fans. The film takes its inspiration from Eminem's 2000 song "Stan" and the obsessive fan story it tells; the word "stan" became so widespread because of that song that it was formally added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017. The film had a limited theatrical run before streaming on Paramount+. Who it's for: anyone curious about the fan culture behind a word that a song made common enough to enter the dictionary, produced by the artist himself. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a general fan culture documentary unrelated to Eminem, since the film is built entirely around him.
