Gholamreza Takhti

The film tells the life of the wrestler Gholam Reza Takhti from his childhood on. His matches on the mat and his rise as an athlete make up the body of the account. The film follows what fame brought him and what it took from him. The account runs up to his death and stops there; it passes no judgement on the cause. How much of a life lived in public stays a person’s own is the question underneath. The Iran of the period is felt throughout in the background. Because it is the account of a life from childhood to adulthood, the film looks not at a single event but at an accumulation. Alireza Goudarzi, Mahour Alvand, Behnoosh Tabatabaei and Farhad Aeish appear in Bahram Tavakkoli’s hundred minute Iranian film, completed in 2019.
