Gigantic (A Tale of Two Johns)

The documentary is about two musicians. Both of them are called John. One is John Flansburgh, the other John Linnell. The two met in the seventies at junior high school. The place was the town of Lincoln in Massachusetts. Ten years later they started a band together. The band is called They Might Be Giants. By the end of the eighties they were heard on college radio. They were part of the East Village scene in New York. They had set up a line that played songs off an answering machine. They also wrote the theme for the series Malcolm in the Middle. The documentary was filmed in 2001. The account runs through the voices of friends and listeners. Flansburgh and Linnell appear in the hundred and two minute documentary, an American production AJ Schnack finished in 2003.
