What Glory Daze: The Life and Times of Michael Alig Is About
The documentary is about New York nightlife in the nineteen nineties. In those years there was a circle called the Club Kids. Costume and dress were the language of that circle. Michael Alig was at the head of it. He had come to the city to work in fashion. Before long he was at the centre of the nightlife. Then it all came apart. Alig was convicted over the killing of Angel Melendez, who was part of the same circle. He spent many years in prison. The film uses his release as a frame. People who lived through those years speak. What they say is candid. The place drugs held in that world is discussed. The story also looks at how the period ended. James St. James, Amanda Lepore and Patricia Field appear in the hundred and thirty five minute film, an American production Ramon Fernandez finished in 2015.
