Godfather's Story

The film tells the story of one of the greatest businessmen of post revolution Czechia, a businessman in quotation marks, since his activities often crossed the edge of the law. His life ends with an assassin’s bullet. The account does not build that rise as a story of success; it shows in what gaps the changing of hands of property took place in the nineties. The film brings the line of journalism and corruption into the story as well. It was adapted from a book and the names of real people are not used. The border between organised crime and the world of business is deliberately left blurred. Knowing the end from the start gives the account an air of inevitability. Ondrej Vetchy and Lukas Vaculik appear in Petr Nikolaev’s hundred minute Czech film, completed in 2013.
