Golden Dawn Girls

Golden Dawn was a far right party in Greece. For a time it was the fifth largest in parliament. Then its leading figures were arrested. The charge was running a criminal organisation. With the men in prison a gap opened. Their families filled it. Their daughters, wives and mothers took over running the party. The documentary follows them through an election campaign. The camera goes into their homes. The talk is political and domestic at once. That mixture is what the film is interested in. The director keeps his distance. Ourania Michaloliakou is one of the figures in it. So is Eleni Zaroulia. The case against the party concluded in 2020. The court found that a criminal organisation had been run. The ninety five minute film is a Norwegian production Håvard Bustnes finished in 2018.
