Goodbye CP

The documentary follows two activists with cerebral palsy. Yokota Hiroshi and Yokozuka Koichi belong to a group called Green Lawn. The group works to make the condition visible in society. They go into the street and address people directly. The camera follows them on the road, in traffic and at home. The talks sometimes turn into hard confrontation. The two men also speak about their sexual lives. They describe the indifference society shows them. Yokota’s wife lives with the same condition. She objects to the filming going on. She says the approach turns into a show for the camera. That argument stays inside the film. Hara builds the film together with the people in it. They are watched, and they also decide. The work drew sharp reactions in Japan. Hiroshi Yokota and Kôichi Yokozuka appear in the eighty two minute documentary. It is a Japanese production Kazuo Hara finished in 1972.
